Have you ever wondered
whenever you enter in a wine celler full of wine varieties?
Have you ever felt confused on the differences
between the things you like and dislike?
This visualization will help you navigate your wine journey...
This visualization on the left compares wine varieties ( for the sake of simplicity, I categorized them to ‘RED’ and ‘WHITE’ ) from all around the world based on this open data set, publicly available on Kaggle.
Looking at the chart, the unusual amount of wines produced in the US is problematic, when compared to the volume of wines produced in other countries, it is an outlier value. According to Statista, Italy produces the most wine in 2020 but the leading global consumer of wine is still the US.
While this dataset remains dubious and may require more investigation to summarize the underlining conclusion of the global wine production, it still provides a high level of insights. In some countries, like US and Italy, red wine is more dominant, and evidently, other sources report the same conclusion.
However, in countries like France or Australia, we see a larger volume of White wines. It is understandable since France produces most Chardonnay in the world.
